The Angler’s Companion to the Past

The Medlar Press, Fishguard, Wales, 2026             200pp (approx.), 13,8 x 21,6 cm hardback

The Angler’s Companion to the Past aims to connect today’s angling with its background. Knowing something about how our approach to angling, our materials and our technique came to be, may enhance how we view our sport and enrich our experience. But above all the book is intended to be a joy to read. The chapters highlight a variety of subjects, from ultra-light spinning to specimen hunting and from carp rods to pike spoons. Meanwhile the dust is blown off some angling books that are especially worthwhile. So all in all a lot of cheerful reading.
